Faith, rest and care for the whole person

A busy life can leave rest and care at the edge. You may want to reflect on your rhythms without another demand to perform or a promise that faith removes every difficulty.

Receive rest as a gift

In Mark 6:31, Jesus invites his disciples to step away and rest. This offers a picture of human limits being recognised, not a rule that everyone must follow the same routine.

Choose a realistic rhythm

Consider one small, suitable change in how you make space for rest, relationships or reflection. Adapt any practical decision to your circumstances and the advice of your health professionals.

Let care include other people

Prayer and companionship can support someone living with illness, disability or exhaustion. They do not replace diagnosis or treatment, and the church does not promise a cure.

A SMALL STEP YOU CAN TAKE TODAY

Try this short reflection

  1. Read Mark 6:30–32 and notice how Jesus responds to the disciples’ activity and need for rest.
  2. Ask what kind of rest or support is realistic in your circumstances, without comparing yourself with someone else.
  3. If you have a health concern, speak with a qualified professional. You can also ask ANCC for prayer or companionship.

Talk it through

You can ask for a pastoral conversation or bring a question to a gathering. Share only what you choose; a general website message does not need your private story.

For medical advice, speak with an appropriate health professional. For urgent help in England use NHS 111; call 999 in an emergency.
