FAITH, COMMUNITY AND EVERYDAY LIFE

How can I use my gifts to help others?

You do not need a public platform to make a useful contribution. Skills, experience, attention and dependable care can all help another person or strengthen a community.

Notice what you can offer

Think about tasks you do well and situations where people already ask for your help. Your contribution might be practical organisation, listening, hospitality, creativity or making a complicated task clearer.

Begin with a real need

Ask what would help rather than deciding that someone needs your preferred solution. Listening protects dignity and makes service more useful. First Peter 4:10 connects gifts with serving others as responsible stewards.

Choose a sustainable commitment

Consider your time, energy and responsibilities. A limited commitment can be valuable when its expectations are clear. Be honest when a role exceeds your capacity or requires skills you have not developed.

Learn within safe arrangements

Church roles can involve training, oversight and safeguarding checks. Ask who will supervise you and what preparation is needed. Enthusiasm does not replace appropriate boundaries or qualifications.

Questions people ask

Notice your skills, seek feedback and try an appropriate task with guidance. Learning often makes a contribution clearer over time.
