PRAYER AND LISTENING · ANCC LEEDS

Someone to listen. Space to pray.

Talk with ANCC’s listening team about life, faith or what is on your mind. You can ask for prayer, explore a question about Jesus or simply begin a conversation. You do not need to attend ANCC to contact us.

Jessy coordinates our listening team: Jessy, Kusiyo, Kate, Edgar, Mutende and Micheal.

Choose how to begin

A listening conversation

Share what you choose, ask a question, or talk about faith. We will ask before offering prayer or exploring a Bible passage. You can end a conversation at any time.

Prayer without pressure

You can ask for prayer without joining a church or agreeing to a visit. Sharing a testimony, donating or making a faith commitment is never a condition of support.

Message our team

Live chat is available only when a named listener is on duty and has space to respond. At other times, messages are read when the team next checks the inbox. There is no guaranteed response time.

Finding hope when life hurts

Christian hope makes room for sorrow. Begin with one trusted conversation and a manageable next step.

Does Jesus care about what I am carrying?

It can be difficult to ask for help when you are unsure whether anyone will understand. Christian faith begins with the conviction that you matter to God. The Gospel accounts describe Jesus noticing people others overlooked and making room for their questions and needs.

In Mark 10:46–52, Jesus stops for Bartimaeus and asks what he wants. In Matthew 11:28–30, he invites people carrying heavy burdens to come to him. These passages invite us to bring our real lives to Jesus, rather than wait until we seem successful or composed.

The Christian message also speaks about forgiveness and a new beginning. Jesus died for our sins and rose again; Christians trust in his grace and learn to follow him. You can explore what that means without being rushed into words you do not believe.

If you would value a conversation, ANCC’s listening team can listen, explore a Bible passage or pray with your permission. You can also read privately and decide your next step.

Explore Jesus with questions

Finding hope when life hurts

Some seasons bring more questions than answers. Loss, disappointment, pressure or a difficult relationship can leave everyday life feeling unfamiliar. You do not need to explain everything before asking someone to listen.

Christian hope makes room for sorrow. John 11 describes Jesus weeping with people who were grieving. Psalm 34:18 speaks of God being near to the brokenhearted. These passages offer a reason to turn towards God honestly, including when the next step remains unclear.

A practical beginning might be to tell one trusted person what is happening, ask for appropriate professional support, or take a small step that makes today more manageable. Prayer and church friendship can accompany that support.

At ANCC, Jessy coordinates a listening team who can offer Christian encouragement and prayer if you wish. When you are ready to meet people, Thursday at 7pm is our connection service for students and young adults, alongside Sunday at 10:45am. You can ask for a welcome host before you come.
