A FRESH START IN FAITH
Returning to God
If you have been away from faith or church, you can begin a conversation with God again. You do not have to put your whole history on display before you ask for prayer or take a first step back.
A FRESH START IN FAITH
If you have been away from faith or church, you can begin a conversation with God again. You do not have to put your whole history on display before you ask for prayer or take a first step back.
You may be carrying disappointment, regret or uncertainty. God's welcome in Jesus gives Christians a reason to return honestly. Luke 15 describes the joy of a father welcoming his returning son; read the story slowly and consider what it says about grace.
God, I want to turn towards you again. Please forgive me and help me face what needs to change. Give me wisdom to take a faithful next step and courage to receive support. Help me to follow Jesus in the life I am living now. Amen.
Read a Gospel, speak to a trusted Christian or visit a Sunday gathering. You can rebuild habits of prayer and Scripture gradually. Returning to faith need not mean returning to an unsafe relationship or ignoring harm.
If an experience in church has left you hurt, say what you are comfortable discussing and what kind of conversation would help. Our care page explains the pastoral route and its boundaries.
