FAITH, COMMUNITY AND EVERYDAY LIFE

Who is the Holy Spirit?

ANCC believes that the Holy Spirit is God, alongside the Father and the Son in the Christian understanding of the Trinity. Christians look to the Spirit for help in knowing Jesus and living a life shaped by love.

The Holy Spirit in Jesus’ teaching

In John 14:16–17 and 26, Jesus speaks of the Spirit as a helper who teaches and reminds his followers of his words. Read these promises in their Gospel setting. The Spirit is not simply an impersonal force or a feeling.

What is the Trinity?

Christians confess one God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is not a belief in three separate gods. Our What We Believe page explains ANCC’s doctrine; a short introduction cannot settle every theological question.

Fruit and gifts

Galatians 5:22–23 describes qualities such as love, patience and self-control as the fruit of the Spirit. First Corinthians 12 discusses gifts in a community where different members contribute. A gift is not a licence to ignore character, accountability or another person’s wellbeing.

A Pentecostal church and responsible discernment

ANCC is a Pentecostal church. Ask about the church’s beliefs and practice when exploring its approach to the Holy Spirit. Claims of spiritual guidance should be considered carefully in relation to Scripture, humility and accountable leadership.

Take a practical next step

Read the Bible passages, ask what they teach about Jesus and consider what loving action is needed in your life. You can ask ANCC a question without feeling obliged to claim a spiritual experience you have not had.

Questions people ask

Must everyone have the same experience?

Christian testimony and experience vary. Do not use a comparison of feelings as the sole measure of someone’s faith.

Does a spiritual claim remove the need for advice?

No. Major choices, health concerns and safeguarding questions still need responsible thought and appropriate expertise.
