HEAL AND MOVE FORWARD
Dealing with a divorce
Considering or experiencing a divorce can seem like one of life’s lowest moments. You may feel alone, helpless, upset, hopeless, and uncertain of how to move forward. The Bible describes marriage as two people becoming one. When those two people divorce, it tears them apart from each other— spiritually, relationally, and emotionally. The breaking process of divorce can be compared to life-changing surgery. Painful, significant adjustments are usually needed for healing and recovery to begin. According to American Psychology Association, though 90% of people marry by age 50, 40 to 50% of those marriages end in divorce. Many couples go into marriage intending to spend the rest of their lives with the one they love. However, when life doesn’t work out as planned and they decide to get a divorce, it can be a painful, emotional experience for everyone involved. Yes, divorce hurts. However, there are pathways to healing and restoration—even after divorce.
