FAITH, COMMUNITY AND EVERYDAY LIFE

What is the kingdom of God?

The kingdom of God describes God’s reign: his rule and purposes made known through Jesus. Christians seek to live under that rule through faith, love, justice and service, while looking forward to its fulfilment.

How did Jesus speak about the kingdom?

Mark 1:14–15 introduces Jesus’ announcement of the kingdom and his call to repent and believe. His teaching points people towards God and challenges the idea that power, status or possessions define a good life.

Is it the same as a church organisation?

A local church seeks to witness to God’s kingdom, but its structures and leaders are not the whole kingdom. Christian language should not be used to claim that every organisational request has unquestionable divine authority.

What does it look like in daily life?

Tell the truth, treat people fairly, practise generosity and attend to a neighbour’s needs. Matthew 6:33 invites Jesus’ followers to seek God’s kingdom and righteousness. These choices can matter at home, in study and at work as well as in church activities.

Where can I begin at ANCC?

Get to know the church’s beliefs and values. If you would like to serve, ask about a current role and its expectations. Practical service should respect people’s dignity and the safeguards appropriate to the activity.

Questions people ask

Can service replace faith in Jesus?

Christians understand service as a response to faith and grace, rather than a way to earn God’s acceptance.

Do I have to take on a church role?
