Why should we love the Bible?
Because it is the Word of God and is one of the many means God communicates to human beings.
5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts… 7 Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:5-7
This is a Bible Study to inspire us to fall in love with the Bible and rely on God’s Word continually throughout our day. With the uncertainties of our day to day lives, we need a steady foundation of convictions to guide us as we make decisions. Feelings and worldly knowledge are always shifting and therefore incapable of being the root of secure lives.
Are you overwhelmed by anxiety and insecurity? Make a decision to really love the Bible, not just reading it. Memorize, reflect upon, pray about, talk about, and put them into practice. This leads to rock solid convictions that will produce a resilient, faithful life that is very inspiring.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Matthew 7:24-27
Which “house” (life) do you want to build? What will it take to build that life?
Decide to read the Bible daily. Make 1 decision daily of how you will put a Scripture into practice.
Rely on the Bible to build convictions, and you will fall in love with it because of how much it shows you who God is, and how much he cares about you.
God’s Word Guides Our Life
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
Psalms 119:105
Which Scripture has led you to a right decision recently? Write that one down as a personal conviction.
God’s Word Comforts Us
Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles.
Psalms 119:50 NLT
What suffering are you experiencing? Search in the Bible for passages that address the challenges you are facing.
God’s Word Strengthens
As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.32 For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? 33 It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. 2 Samuel 22:31-33
What Scriptures have you found that give you strength?
God’s Word Exposes
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:12-13
Where does the Bible say our attitudes are found? What attitudes do you believe you need to change? Are you fearful? Are you angry? Are you discouraged? Are you selfish?
Look passages up about these attitudes and choose to obey those verses that call you to change.
God’s Word Instructs
[The Servant of God says] The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He wakens Me morning by morning, He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple [as one who is taught].5 The Lord God has opened My ear, and I have not been rebellious or turned backward. Isaiah 50:4-5 AMP
When should we begin to listen to God to learn? How do you know when you are rebelling against God? How do you know you are turning backward?
How will you live differently from rebelling or turning back?
God’s Word Encourages
The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. Psalm 19:7-8
What will refresh your soul? What will create joy to your heart?
God’s Word Trains
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Where does Scripture originate? What does “useful” mean? How will you “fully use” the Bible?
God’s Word Gives Faith
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:17
Where does faith come from? How do we build our faith?
God’s Word Provides Hope
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans 15:4
What will the Scriptures teach us according to this verse?
What will the Scriptures provide us with?
God’s Word Prunes
I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser. Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit. You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you].
John 15:1-3 AMP
Why is God’s pruning in our life important?
What scripture that you have read recently does God want to use to prune (change) your life?
